Guest Speaker Reflection - Michelle Price

The guest speaker that I decided to do my guest reflection on is Michelle Price. She attended Ohio University from 1985-1989 for her Bachelors of Fine arts and then went to Ohio University from 1990-1992 to get her MFA in design. She then went back to Ohio University in 2013 to get her Doctorate in Philosophy. Throughout her career she designed a lot of products, but her most famous was the curly bow. She got a patent on the product so no-one would be be able to copy her idea. Throughout her presentation she talked about product design and the importance of patents. She talked about her experience with multiple product designs and how each idea much be very original and can't be similar to any other products that are currently on the market. Products design is talked about in the textbook through all sorts examples. The textbooks talks about how several different products came to be and how the designers went about creating them. Professional Networking

I attended the Exercise Science Club meeting in November and it was a great way to self-promote and network myself. The meeting was held in the basement of the chapel and was very beneficial. A few upper class members began talking about some of the expectations of being in the exercise science club and that it would be a great way to get our names out there. They went on to talk about a few events we would attend to meet some potential advisors for us while we pursue a career in exercise science. The meeting ended by them asking if we had any questions. I asked about the benefits of being in the club. They said its a great way to network yourself and to get your name out there to professionals in that field. I know the importance of networking yourself from the many discussions we've had about it in our business class. I know that it is very important to get your name out there early so that people that are higher up know about you and how you can potentially help their work pla...
