Nike's Controversial New Ad Nike has proven that they are a one of a kind brand once again in the past two weeks. They have chosen to use Colin Kaepernick as the brands cover athlete. This was a very bold and skeptical decision because he has been involved in a lot of controversy in the past two years. Colin is known for his contributions to the black rights movement. He has been kneeling for the National Anthem before professional football games as a symbol for his feeling of how African Americans are being treated in this country. He has received a lot of backlash from his actions and has been released from his team. When Nike made him the cover athlete for their new ad they also received a lot of backlash. Many people ended up burning their nike products or throwing them away. A lot of people have also stated they will not be purchasing Nike products anymore as long as Kaepernick remains the cover athlete. The day that the ad came out, the firm's share price fell by 3%.
